What Jake and John did next....

Recently John McGee, Managing Director of Resilient Power Solutions Ltd, decided to take on a personal challenge to fundraise for The Butterwick Hospice. Enter John's son Jake (12) who wants to get in on the act too! Jake and John have been inspired to try and cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats in June this year with a fundraising target of £20,000.

What's more Jake and John want to do the challenging bike ride in the shortest time possible and they have given themselves a target of completing the bike ride in 8 days. Jake and John will be cycling up the country with John's wife, Ali, and John's daughter, Melissa, in tow. The McGee Girls will be following in a motor home which will double up as accommodation for the challenge as well as advertising and fundraising along the way.

Jake and John have received fantastic support from Jake's School - All Saints CE Secondary School, Ingleby Barwick - who are fundraising and completing their own Lands End to John O'Groats challenge! In a joint effort, pupils are completing stints on exercise bikes to cycle the almost 900 miles to support Jake and John and raise awareness and funds for the fantastic local charity.

David Lloyd Leisure Ltd have shown their support for the boys by sponsoring the bike ride and donating exercise bikes to Jake's school for the challenge above, as well as giving Jake and John free 6 month memberships to the local gym so they can complete their training.

The Butterwick Hospice is a fantastic local charity providing care to those with life limiting illness and their families. The hospice cares for up to 200 patients and their loved ones every day completely free of charge. Click here to learn more about the charity.
